О фильме:
В 1975 году молодой и честолюбивый менеджер авиакомпании Eastern Airlines Ютака Хигасигайто (Хидэтоси Нисидзима) отправляется в Бангкок. Он входит в состав команды сотрудников, перед которой поставлена сложная задача: организовать филиал этой компании в Юго-Восточной Азии и занять достойное место на рынке авиаперевозок региона. Он помолвлен, в Японии его ждет невеста Мицуко (Юрико Исида), с которой он сосватан по договоренности их родителей, и дата свадьбы уже назначена. Но в Бангкоке случается то, что потом не будет отпускать его всю последующую жизнь — он встречается с роковой женщиной по имени Токо Манака (Михо Накаяма), и между ними вспыхивает неудержимая страсть, подобная разряду молнии или всепоглощающему пожару. Ютака боится признаться себе в том, что любит Токо, ведь его будущая жена ему очень дорога, а день свадьбы неумолимо приближается. Влюбленные расстаются столь же внезапно, как и встречаются, и Токо исчезает из жизни Ютаки.
Продолжение этой истории происходит четверть века спустя. В 2000 году Ютака, отец двух взрослых сыновей, готовящийся отпраздновать свою серебряную свадьбу, снова летит в Бангкок по делам авиакомпании, где неожиданно встречает свою прежнюю возлюбленную, которая все эти годы помнила о нем...
